The aim of this book is to provide crisp information related to pathology, management and radiological/molecular imaging in breast carcinoma, along with detailed information on FDG PET-CT in breast cancer, normal variants, artefacts, pitfalls with atlas illustrations. The book is unique in providing quick reference to practice of PET/CT in breast cancer. The initial few chapters are related to the pathology and management of breast carcinoma to help understand the pathophysiology of breast cancer before going to the imaging. The chapter on imaging in breast cancer highlights the role of different imaging modalities for different indications to the reader. The last four chapters describe in detail the role, normal variants, artefacts and pitfalls of FDG PET/CT along with recent molecular imaging advances in breast cancer. FDG PET/CT has rapidly emerged as an invaluable combined imaging modality that can identify tumors on the basis of not only anatomical alterations but also metabolic activity, thus allowing the detection of lesions that would otherwise be too small to distinguish. This book, comprising a collection of images from oncology cases, is organized according to the role of FDG PET/CT in the evaluation and management of oncology patients, and only secondarily by organ or tumor entity. In this way, it reflects the issues that clinicians actually address in their daily practice, namely: identification of an unknown or unsuspected primary; determination of the extent of disease; evaluation of response to therapy; and surveillance after response, i.e., detection of recurrent disease. In total, 100 cases involving different primary tumors are presented to illustrate findings in these different circumstances. Pancreatic neoplasms include different pathological entities with variable biological behavior and different treatment modalities. Surgery and adjuvant therapy are the cornerstones of the therapeutic approach; however, even after radical resection, the majority of patients experience disease recurrence and the prognosis of pancreatic cancer remains dismal. A multimodal therapeutic approach, based on a combination of neoadjuvant therapy, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy and surgery, appears fundamental to improving the outcomes.
